to help prove the benefits of captive ownership of reptiles and amphibians or even animals in general? I think one of the reasons why we take such a beating is that they (PETA, HSUS, and other morons) use a combination of techniques from, tear jerkers, to attacks, to inhumane treatment for their causes. Keeping these animals as "pets" dont seem to appeal as a very good reason to keep these animal's and thus doesn't hold us much ground. If I do a google search, I will find MANY documents (whether they be valid or not) on why these animals DONOT belong in captivity by individuals as pets. I have found 1 or 2 places that defend the keeping of animals in captivity, but in my opinion havent provided any data that would even hold up in a debate against the opposite side.
If we even want to have a chance in hell of keeping our animal's and enjoying our hobby, I suggest we get on the ball and start proving some of their claims incorrect. Unfortunately, we need to provide scientific data and not someone's personal "experiences".
