Eggs denting! Please help!

astronut1885 Jun 20, 2005 04:21 PM

About a week and a half ago, my 2yr old female laid her first clutch of eggs. They are nice and big. Over the last few days, they have developed some rougher, almost yellowed spots, and now they are beginning to dent. They are in a container with a small vent hole with damp perlite. The container has dew all over it and on the roof, so I know the humidity is ok. The container is sitting on a heating pad until my incubator arrives, I think tomorrow. Are these eggs screwed, or is this normal?
Thanks,
Rob

Sounds normal to me, normally on a females first year breeding her first 2 eggs will be infertile. Surely you have read care sheets and guides on breeding, laying and incubating and should have read this somewhere else. Don't wprry about them too much my girls went like this and they are still in my incubator cooking but very dented. Just look forward to the next 2 ok Hope this helps

Have you candled them? Get a small flashlight, and shine it through the egg, with you looking toward the light in the egg. What do you see in the egg? Is it all yellow? Or do you see a network of veins? If it's yellow, there's most likely nothing there.
