Okay heres the deal I have a male ball python that is about 3 ft long and one and a half to two and a half years old. He is a litle thin although you cant see his ribs or spine. My problem is I can only be with him for a week at a time every other week (divorced parents)and my local petstores dont sell frozen rats only . I have been feeding him about one to two mice eveyr two weeks ( I know thats not enough) So I was thinking about feeding him three large mice a week than having him not eat the following week. WOuld this work? Is that enough to get him to gain weight?

Is there any way to feed him right before you leave and then feed again as soon as you return? Give him as many prey items as he will eat before you leave. Once he fattens up, you can cut back on his food a bit.
