Good news bad news and weird news

Well big lexi dropped her litter, it was mostly slugs.. Huge slugs the size of a jumbo chicken egg.. 5 big live babies, 2 of which are for sure hypos with massive tails like their momma.

The weird part is I had 5 still borns, 2 look like ghosts, 1 an anery, 1 is questionable because it has a little pink tinge to it, 1 had massive saddles (Looked like a guyana with realy big saddles and peaks)

Here are some pics..

nice huh?

this one too

I have no clue whats up with this one above... opinions are welcome..

Big pattern

another.

Here are the stillborns, I hate posting pics of these but there is some weird stuff going on..

Most of them look like anerys, I mean realy anery...

The one in the middle has a bit of a pink tinge but it could be from the baby color?... The one above it is anery looking and there are some other ghost looking ones in the first stillborn pic.. Now in order for that to happen it would mean that my male DH sunglow is actualy a triple het, and my female big Lexi was a het anery..? Give me your opinions..

Those babies look really good, Ed. It's too bad she had so many slugs. As far as the still borns appearing so anerythristic, I do not think it's completely out of the question that both parents were unknown hets. Hell, you know what popped out in my litter lately. Because I do not have any personal experience with stillborns so far, I can only speak from what I have seen and what others have shared with me. As I understand it, color is the last attribute to develop, and that many surprise anery appearing babies end up pulling up color within a reasonable time after they are born. With the stillborns, you are not afforded that opportunity, though.

That ghostly one looked awesome! But so does that hypo in the first pic! Congrats again, Ed!

I know the color is the last thing to develop, I think I mentioned that to you on your anerys...LOL... (BTW your's are anerys and sweet!!) It's a bummer these aneryish looking ones didn't make it to see what was going on, but hey there's always next year..LOL... I got a few good looking ones, I have more boas that are still breeding, and their mother is doing fine. So it's not all bad

Hi Ed, congrats on the litter and sorry it didn't work out as well as it could have..

From my experience, the premies always look like anerys and ghosts due to the lack of full color yet developed. These usually also have faded pattern and seem transparent sometimes. Sometimes they are so premie that there pattern doesn't fully form either, so some of these premies will appear patternless or close to it.

There is the possibility... I know lots of people that sold Anery hets as normals..

What I see is a genetic thing for pattern going on.. seems like these babies have big, bold pattern and big tails.. maybe it can be the beginning of a striping thing.. there is definitely lots of color on those babies... something also typical of striping.

Darn, wish you had more viable babies for me to look at!

Thanks again and please post more pics! take care - Joe

I bred big Lexi with a Gee line hypo het albino, because she has big pattern, and the Gee lines don't seem to reduce the pattern as much. The idea was to make hypos that have full patterns, so they can be bred to other pattern morphs and get a full pattern.. Striping wouldn't hurt my feelings either...LOL... but I have some other lines going in that direction.. I think I'm getting close to the full pattern there is only a hint of pattern reduction in the hypos..

I should have got some pics of the majorly patterned stillborn, it had 1.5 inch long saddles, and a laddertail!
