Sam's got a new house....plus good news!!!>

I finally got sam situated in her new 4'x2'x2' enclosure (after nearly 9 monthes since the start of the project!). She's loving it so far. Running around, exploring, licking everything, and basking a ton. Plus, for those of you remember Sam, she would never poop in her cage before, so I would always have to take her out and let her go on newspapers. So far she's pooped in the new cage already, and released liquid like 4 times (the clear liquid accounts for most of her fatness, since she usually holds it in all the time), so it's only been about 2 hours since the move-in and she's already looking thinner and happier! I may not have to deal with such a picky, obese lizard anymore. She's loving the soil and the nice pieces of cork bark I put in for her to climb on and under.

Now I've just got to get my bearded dragon's new 4'x2'x2' enclosure setup on top of that one. He needs to poop though, because he's gotta have some sort of parasite (he's just acting that way again). It's a never ending ordeal with him. That's why you have to make sure you're getting your reptiles from a good place! I've had to deal with about 4 different types of parasites since I've had him...the reptile place was keeping the beardeds with various other species of lizards (some probably wild caught), which is the most probable reason he's had all these different parasites. Sam has only had pinworms once for a short while, and my leopard gecko, who I got from a very reputable source, has had absolutely no problems, so I suspect it's something to do with him in particular.

So everything's going good for Sam and Speckles (my leo)....just need to work on this crazy dragon now!

yay! good news is the best. i am glad to hear that she is thinning up for you. i know you worried about her weight and possible health problems. i can always tell when my guys need to go too, i definitely don't hold them till they deflate, ha ha.
as for the beardie, do you throw out his substrate and clean everything, logs, sticks, hidespots, yadda yadda? hopefully all these bugs will get out and stay out of his system soon. congrats on finishing the cage

Sam is one lucky lizard!

It does seem like a never ending battle between truth, justice and the reptile immune system sometimes, doens't it!

This morning Sam was reluctant to wake up and I realized her basking spot was not hot enough, so I adjusted that it's getting surface temps of around 130-140, so she's running around happy as can be, eating, and she pooped in there again today!

She's a funny lizard. I had the cage open so I could check temps and clean up the....mess, and the cat was right there. Sam started cautiously approaching and then just charged out the cage door at my mom's cat! (Sam's cage is on the floor). I put the cat out of my room and let Sam run around for a minute or two before i put her back in the new enclosure. She's definately more active with more space.

she seems to be adapting well. She's till a little timid with coming out in the morning, and she didn't eat much today, but she pooped again and is down to about what I would call a normal weight for a mali uromastyx. I tried to make the setup as natural as possible, with soil substrate (though not enough for her to burrow in), and temperatures that mimic that of her home...like a high surface temp basking spot.

Things seem to be going good so far. I moved my bearded dragon into his new enclosure, and he's acting like he usually does...not doing much of anything.
