See the main alterna page index for "what's new".

There you will find the story of Robert Pelaez and his recent success. Check it out, it's a great story!

9:24 am.........as I sit here at my desk enjoying a cold bud after a long night working in the ER, I cruise the alterna page. I can't believe my eyes. Someone has lived my re-occurring dream ! As I read, picture by picture, the account is even better than my dreams. Congratulations to Robert Pelaez on the most amazing collecting trip to the trans pecos I've ever heard of ! It's going to be tough waiting for next season.

It was good to see you out there and I hope you had a good trip going home.

I'm paying my dues at work right now. Can't take that much time off for these trips without bribes and kickbacks. Then , my collection takes time with the cleaning and oh yea......more cleaning. I'll get the pictures up this weekend. It was good meeting you. Hope you get your pictures up as well.

Legend has it that Damon took out some serious alterna booty from Sanderson in the early nineties. When the Outback was called the West Texan, and a single room cost about $17 (and included a full, hot breakfast), we both stayed there at the same time - that's how I met Damon. But, whenever I asked Damon if he scored he would always say no - AND I BELIEVED HIM! He didn't know me well enough to trust me and I remember hearing about herpers breaking into people's rooms to snatch alterna.

The facts become muddied with time as they're passed from one generation to the next, one herper to the other, so I don't remember the exact count...but it was something like a hundred in two weeks

Hey Joe,

If you want 'em, I have pics of 3 crockett county snakes from the southern end of FM 2083 (Howard Draw/Pandale Rd). They are from about 3 miles north of the VV county line, but they are technically from Crockett County.

Mike Price also has a bunch of pics of snakes from the same cuts.

I want as many as I can get, especially if the photo quality is good.

There are so many bad photos on this site that eventually I will be purging them out the back end unless the animal in the bad photo is too significant to purge.

Since your photos are so good, I'd love to have them.

Mike takes great photos too, but if he is still using film tell him to make sure the scans are clean, or I'd be happy to scan any slides and return them to him.

Thanks!
Joe

top one is the female
bottom one is the male

- you might amend the text to say that Howard Draw road (FM 2083) runs along some large cuts for about 8 miles north of the county line before it moves out away from the hills. These snakes are from those cuts.
