Two geckos in harmony

stickyfingers Jun 20, 2005 10:19 PM

I found a way to house the tokays i want I currently house my 3 ft ball python in a very large 75 gal cage. I can put a divider to seperate a section that measures 20 by 20 by 18 inches appr. a 31 gal space. I will also be able to open both cage individually. Is this space large enough for two(m with f).The geckos at the only pet store selling them are very thin and dark colored. If I purchased a male and female could I expect them to gain weight a get a better color with proper care or are they a lost cause with uncurable parasites. As most tokays are WC. most tpkay owners probably had to nurse alot of them back to health right? And can I expect them to breed under right conditions?

If you bring them home and they don't eat right away i would be concerned. If you have a vet that will perform a fecal check for you without taking the Tokays in will cost less but either way would be in your best interest. 30 gals would be to small to house two adult Tokays but would be adequate for juvies till you can provide something larger and taller if your interest is to breed and provide them enough room to thrive. Good luck.

Why don't you just order a pair from a reputable individual or breeder....rather than supporting [bleep]e pet stores that don't know how to take care of their critters? Knowledgeable people can overnight you the geckos and you will feel better knowing that they grew up in a knowledgeable environment...unless you want unhandleable Tokays. Then it doesn't matter.

It sounds like you know enough about what you're doing to be a WAY better owner than any store that has thin, malnourished-looking Tokays (or other reptiles, for that matter)

Well it has been my plan to get cb juvis but I cant find a place that sells them. Would the breeder be able to sex them when young?

Okay ive settled on one gecko for the 30 gal space. Assuming that the petstore has a few healthy looking geckos (they usually do) and i get, one preferably a male, how much would the cost be to get a facel exam and how much for a syringe of baytril be.
