Building A Cage

Sonic Jun 21, 2005 09:08 AM

I'm trying to build some cages for 2 mali uromastyx, 2 bearded dragons and 1 egyptian uromastyx that I will be getting at the end of July.

I need some help on how to build these cages.

I want plexi-glass in the front of the cages and the cages need to be able to hold extra weight because I plan on putting a 20 gallon glass terrarium that will be holding 2 leopard gecko's on top of one of the cages.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I had seen the plans from a woman on the uromastyx forum. I believe her name is purduecg. If anyone could ask her what she used that would greatly be appreciated.

How big do you want these cage to be? What light source will you be using?

Also, plexiglass is expensive and not ideal for scratching species and high thermal gradiants. Glass is a better choice.

The cages need to be big enough to suit a full grown bearded dragons, full grown mali uromastyx and a full grown egyptian uromastyx.

Here is what I am planning to do :

Build a cage, and put another cage with another animal on top. The cage's need to be able to be taken apart, so I plan on building the rest with those cast iron wheels that are graded at 80lbs each, and 1 that goes on top won't have it.

If you know a way I could do this I would greatly appreciate it.

I was thinking that these specs would be good for the following:

Bearded Dragons:

2 1/2 ft long

2 - 2 1/2 ft tall

2 ft wide

Mali Uromastyx:

3 ft long

2 1/2 ft tall

2 1/2 ft wide

Egyptian Uromastyx:

3 1/2 ft long

2 1/2 ft tall

2 1/2 ft wide

Let me know if those measurements seem good or not.
