More baby pics , out romping

PHEve Jun 21, 2005 09:57 AM

These 2 were out romping on the BIG lizard rocks , last night. Kong was already asleep and I contained the other roamer( Chippewa) for a time.

I only took 2 kids out at a time, so I would not lose anyone, hehehehe. It's fun watching them do the same things as the adults, LOL but in such a SMALL way !

Curious how many males:females you ended up with.

PHEve Jun 21, 2005 10:42 AM

very soon after, about 3 days old he did not make it. I had never had one so small.

Guess he just was weak and not meant to live. Although ya wonder WHY they have to go through being born and all then NOT make it.

So I have eight now, they are all eating and are getting chubby tummies! Pretty colors as flames have with the orangey necks, and splashes of it, on their faces here and there.

SIX Males and TWO females

Lots of boys in this batch, LOL maybe Kickapoo and Kiowa will have more females,

My theory is this...

If the male uses his right hemipene you have a higher ratio of males, and the left...more females.

LOL ahahhahahaha ! Your a weirdo! I think ya get what ya get, I always incubate at about the same temps, sometimes it varies a few degrees.

Although I will say this, towards the end there was a SPIKE in temps, towards the higher side , it warmed up quick and the room got warmer than usual a few times. I had found it at about 86 (Maybe thats why I got all the boys!)

Thats okay the male flames are so pretty ! Kachina has nice golden yellow colors also, I'm sure the girl babies will be sweet.

at least not collared tanks. I would need a separate tank for small ones. I want to get a pen ready at the new house. We'll see if that happens or not. It is very shaded with trees, so I'll have to check out the sun/shadow schedule and determine if it will work out there or not. I already plan to cut down about 7 trees to get some sun in the yard, but that is more for the lawn (or so I say)... :O)

I desperately need to collect my females from my pen, or else they will lay again out there. So many things to do :O)
