Luna has a question about our new feeding routine...

lele Jun 21, 2005 01:39 PM

and since her little mittens don't type well I am doing it for her

"I'm not thrilled with this every other day feeding that mom is now doing. I have been a VERY good girl about eating more fruits and veggies (strawberries, butternut squash (mmmm...), and she sometimes tricks me into eating some green leafy thing by hiding it behind the good stuff! But I usually see it sticking out and refuse to eat it until I only see red or orange - I'm no stupid cham, you know! ;-/ So what I am wondering, since I am eating more veggies and less 6-leggers can she feed me a little more? Like on that "off" day can I just get a little piece or two of squash?

I am trying really hard NOT to develop any eggs so I understand WHY she has to do this, but I don't think mom is happy about it either. OK, well, thanks for listening and I hungrily await your reply!"

Luna

yummm......strawberries

Such an elegant looking pic, head held high, especially with those left over strawberries on her face, LOL

I know from my other lizards the girls produce more eggs when fed more! Just be careful

Yup, we're trying. On her feeding days I am limiting what she is getting, too. She laid a clutch last July so I think if we can get thru that it is working, if not...well, I just may have to find her a boy! (wish me luck on that, up here in the sticks

Man, she LOVES her strawberries! All but falls off her branch to get to them!

It really brought a smile to my face!

Luna, my 4-legged dear, dear, cham, I think you can tell your mom that it will be ok to give you an extra fruit or veggie here and there, but remember Luna, you have to stick to your routine. You don't want to stress your mom out too much. See how this goes and maybe it will be a remedy for you to not develop so many eggs so frequently. It's ok, mom knows what she's doing.

Ok, everybody I'm not a weirdo! :O

you're a Luna-tic! lol!

Yeah, it's been rough on both of us. She is SO hungry after skipping a day that I feel bad I am trying to get her to like cucumber and lettuce b/c they have little nutritional value and are mainly water and would trick :-O her into thinking she is getting "fed." But as she told you - she ain't no stupid cham! When I try to fake her out she eyeballs it and then ME!! and refuses to take it.

I am sure you will be hearing from her again soon - and hopefully it will NOT be "hey, guess what, I got eggs!" ;-/

Well, lele, I was reading this post and was stuck with one of the millions of great ideas I get each and every day.

I'm not sure what you're looking for in the nutritional value dept. or anything specific (I know you're trying to find stuff that will just sort of fill Luna up). But, if she likes strawberries and other red/dark red foods, you may want to try some purple cabbage. Since I don't know if you're trying to limit calories, carbs, fat, vitamins, etc., I pulled up some nutritional info on cabbage...

1/12 of a medium head of cabbage gives you…

25 calories, 0g fat, 0mg cholesterol, 20mg of sodium, 5g carbs, 2g dietary fibre, 3g sugars, 1g protein.

Daily Vitamin Values: 0% Vit. A, 70% Vitamin C, 4% calcium, 2% iron (in a 2000 calorie/day diet)

I hope this helps!
