My leo is very healthy, but she has very annoying eating habits. I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong. Maybe someone can help me out with this.
Here's the background:
I have a female leo that I got from a breeder that fed her only crickets. She was a pig the first 6 months I had her with the crickets, then went on a 2 week long hunger strike (which scared the crap out of me) until I started mushing waxworm guts onto a bowl full of mealworms. That was just to get her eating again, I realize waxworms aren't healthy and are very fatty.
She ate fine for about 2 months after that, then wouldn't touch the mealworms. She ate crickets for about 2 weeks after that, then wouldn't eat again. Unless I tossed a waxworm in because I was afraid she was going to starve herself, she would eat the waxworms.
Anyways, I'm constantly alternating her choices of food, sometimes giving it to her all at once. It seems now that all she wants are waxworms though, and I don't want to give them to her. She will eat without them, it just takes me a week or so of offering her other stuff until she'll actually eat them. But then, she'll always decide she doesn't want them anymore. Oh, and she won't touch anything if it's dusted. And I count her feeders as I put them in, so I do know for sure she's not eating them.
She's been checked for parasites, not the problem. She's not gravid, and she's not impacted. I keep the warm side of her tank at 88F and the cool end about 75F with a gradient in the middle. At night, the temps are between 70F and 75F. I use a UTH and a red light bulb when it's colder out. She's on repti-carpet, has a hide, a humid hide, and a calci-dish.
Sorry this is so long, I just wanted to include all the info so someone can maybe help me better.
