She screeched at me!

JiveMofo Jun 21, 2005 02:40 PM

omg! i decided i'd try to hand feed my gecko like a few had suggested here. so i grab a cricket and put in close to her, slowly. she moved backwards every time i inched closer to her, until she had no more room to back up. then "screech!" and she snapped at me! i have no clue if she was going after the cricket or me. i ended up losing the cricket but luckily still in the aquarium.

man that scared the poo-poo outta me. nto the snapping at me, but the sound she made. i had no clue they made any sound.

Heh my little gecko did that. It's just telling you to back off. She's not use to you and it's kinda weird that a cricket and this big thing is coming at you.

If you are trying to get her to eat. Try getting a bowl of mealworms instead.

If you are trying to get her tamed, don't force her away. if she moves then let her go. It takes a while for themto get use to you.

Mine stop the screeching and lets me move it from place to place when I clean the cage other then that it still doesn't want to be handled much.

humm if you want to tame your gecko just keep your hand int he tank for a bit. i did that with my gecko when i got it. and it will walk up to it and lick it if you stay stil. after a bit you may be abel to move your and aroudn inide th anke andpossably even lift the gecko offf the floor. but i id that and iut worked realy well. i can now just reach in and grab my leo and it just lets me. it doesnt try ange get away. iveonly had it a few weeks.

Mine did that to me when i first got it. and then i was holding her on my couch and my dog walked by, and she schreeched and tried to bite him (the dog is a toy poodle, so it just jumped up on the couch)
