I just bought a vision cage, how should i heat it?

calienteA1 Jun 21, 2005 05:38 PM

I stopped into a local petshop today, and they had a used vision cage for $20 so I bought it. It is going to house my redtail boa. i don't want to use a lamp or heatbulb on it, so what do you guys think is the best way to heat it? I think the plastic is too thick to have an undercage heat mat, so i would probably need one that can go inside the encloser, and I would also need to buy a thermostat. what do you guys think? and can you recommend some brands.

Visions work great with under tank heat. I would buy an ultra therm heat mat from Beanfarm.

I would use a radiant heat panel if you want interior heat. I don't know much about boas, but they are primarily terrestrial snakes (never go off the ground), correct? In that case an UTH should be fine, but if they leave the ground I would use a RHP.
