How should I heat my vision cage?

calienteA1 Jun 21, 2005 05:41 PM

I stopped into a local petshop today, and they had a used vision cage for $20. I don't know the exact dimensions, but it's quite big. I bought it for my redtail, and i don't want to heat it with a lamp or heat bulb, so how should I heat it? I think the plastic is too thick for an undertank heat mat, so I think the best way is one that goes inside. what do you guys think? How do you heat yours? Can you recommend any brands?
Thanks for your time

I'm using Exoterra's Heat Wave undertank heater attached to a thermostat on the bottom outside of the enclosure. Heats the warm end of the set-up quite well. However, I do use the optional heat shroud for an incandescent lamp, this raises the day temps and provides a photoperiod. I also use full spectrum fluorescent lighting on the back- crazy, I know. You may run into problems meeting the required ambient temps without a heat lamp. Unless you live in a warmer area of the country or if the room is heat controlled.
Good luck-

That's why I don't like Visions...
3 different heat/light sources to buy and run and worry about, and still not perfect heat or humidity!

I would've told you to save your money and buy a boaphile.

Anyway, I have some large Kane Heat Matts laying around.. I believe you live near me.. email me
