Looking into setting up a dart frog vivarium

titustetricus Jun 21, 2005 05:53 PM

Hi All,
I currently have an empty 55 gallon tank empty, my bow moved to new a enclosure . I have been looking into possibilities for what to do with it. I have been researching dart frogs for a few days now, and am considering setting up the tank with live plants and dart frogs. I saw in a few other posts the general suggestion is one frog per 5 gallons. My first question is about adding the frogs themselves. figure I will go with 10 frogs, is it possible to add frogs to the tank after some have already established themselves. I don't see much around on how territorial they are. I won't be doing this for sometime, I want to do more research, and whatnot, plus I would need to get the plants and whatnot setup first. Any suggestions would be nice. thanks.

Some frogs are highly territorial and others don't fight as much. Tincs and azureus need to be in pairs, whereas auratus and leucs can be kept in groups.

When adding new frogs, make sure you quarantine them. You don't want a healthy looking frog who is actually sick coming into your tank and killing all your frogs.

For plants, look at the online shops, but also look at home depot or lowes.
