One of our girls started digging in the middle of the afternoon, at around 3 p.m., instead of the more typical early evening.
She started to lay eggs at about 6:30 p.m., and by 7 p.m. was filling the nest in again, after laying a total of 6 eggs. She's still busy with that as I write this.
It was a bit of a treat to be able to observe the process without straining to see in fading light. The first egg was
whopper, too.
This is the last of our adult females to lay eggs this season, and now we get to wait and see who lays a second clutch.
