Eggs day 55 to cut or not?

inkognito Jun 21, 2005 06:41 PM

Hello,

I have a clutch of 4 perfect ball eggs that went on their day 55 today, the eggs have dimpled.
should I wait it out or cut theme open?

I also have 1 egg(the one of the total left) that was supposed to hatch the 19th that still havent come out too. I have realy low hopes for it, since it was 3 eggs but 2 died. and it looks abit rugged compared to the 4 perfect ones. but still alot better than that picture taken 52 days ago.. its alot more rehydrated and full..

any input greatly taken.

best regards
Alexander

I cut my first clutch open and then they took like 4 more days to come out.(Then i was all worried about that!)If you do cut them...don't over do it.Make a small slit on the top.

I seriously doubt that i will be cutting my second clutch...unless they go past 60 days.

I suggest you wait the full 60 days. Sometimes they hatch early, sometimes later. I have one egg that pipped yesterday (day 55) but no other eggs show signs of being ready (in the same clutch).

As for the other clutch, candle the eggs and see if you can see red veining and/or movement. If the 19th was day 60, you still aren't too far off. Like I said, some eggs go beyond 60 days. They started out rough to begin with. A small slit should be fine though. Just be very careful.
