I just captured the tiniest water snake I have ever seen. It has an extremely long and skinny tail, is this a male? I'll post up pics later. I just plan on keeping him until he gets big enough where he(or she) wont be eaten

It is not usually that simple to sex a snake. the only 100% way to tell in to have an experienced person to probe or pop it. this should be done ONLY by a very experienced person though. I would highly suggest to either keep the snake or let it og now, because it will lose its fear of humans and will more than likely be eaten when you let it go if you keep it and it loses fear of predation. If it gets eaten now, it will be nature, but if it loses its fear then it won't be nature on the snakes part (it would be on the predators though)
