First time URO keeper

sandolar7 Jun 21, 2005 08:16 PM

In two days I will received my first uromastyx (Egyptian). Any hints or "look out for's" would be greatly appreciated from all of you experts. I have other animals, monitors, frillies, chams and geckos, so I have a lot of experience. Just not with uros.
Thanks!!
John

Hi John! Welcome to the family!

You have found the best ongoing Uro informational source I have found! In addition though, there are some great care sheets you may have already run into. The one I remember off the top of my head is:

http://www.kingsnake.com/uromastyx/carecontents.html

There are others that I am sure someone will point out as well.

If you run into any questions, feel free to ask!

Welcome!

Elizabeth

Thank you Elizabeth for your help. I bookmarked the care sheet info you gave me. Tomorrow I get the little guy. Going to set up his cage right now and I should get him on my front porch tomorrow at this time. By the way...Great picture!!!!
Again, thanks!

Yeah one thing,
Many first time uro owners get confused with this as oppose to other reptile owners.
When you see this little gathering of white crust arouns your uros nostrils, do NOT worry.
It's just extra salt that they extract, instead of through their sweat.
It'll come off by itself.
Have fun with your uro!
