Are my eggs BAD?

gangus Jun 21, 2005 09:01 PM

hey guys this is my first attempt at breed.. However i think i may have messed up.. i think i put too much water in my vermeculite mix and the eggs have ballooned up.. It is the 58th day of incubation and they are showing no signs of the eggs deflating.. I have te eggs incubating at 87 degrees.. I will try to get pictures up.. Anyways have anyone ever had this problem and if so.. how do the eggs look when they are bad from excessive water.. Ive searched and seen bad eggs from overdrying but not becoming wet.. Please anyone help.. I have candled them but i dont know what to look for at day 58 what should candling the eggs look like.. Please post a pic or any pics of eggs being candled in the later end of incubation period.. I hope these eggs dint go bad.. crossing my fingers.. The eggs still have veins and everything.. so i just want to know if the eggs did go bad from over watering how would you be able to tell.. there are no signs of rotting or nething of that sort.. thanks guys in advance

It sounds like your eggs are doing fine. Your incubation temps are at the low end of the spectrum for ball pythons. At that temp I'd guess 60 days to hatch would be normal. If the eggs aren't discoloring or leaking I wouldn't be concerned.

I just had a clutch go 64 days before they started poking their little heads out. My temps were 88.2-88.9. They just seem to come out when they feel like it. If they still have veins they are probably still good. You may be able to feel them with your finger and they will be much softer and not so rubber like. My late clutch never dented in at all they just softened up.
