Care on Collared Lizards.

KevinsReptiles Jul 14, 2003 12:58 PM

I have a few questions about collared lizards.

1.How many can fit in a 15 gallon enclosure (2x1x1)?
2.What is a good Canadian price for one of them?
3.Does it have to be sand as a substrate?
4.Would they like a small pond?
5.Will they drink from a water dish or do they have to be misted?
6.Do grow lights for plants give of UV rays?

Thanks,Keviiiiiiiiiiin

First, 15 gallon is really too small for 1 collared to run and jump and play let alone more. The min. for 1 should be ATLEAST a 20 long. And No pond, they are desert dwellers so a pond is not needed ! As far as giving them a drink, I've been lucky all mine drink from a shallow dish even wc's. But if they don't you can use a small cup with a tiny hole in the bottom fill with water and let it drip slowly down on to a rock. Just place paper cup on the screen top. They usally drink the drips.
Washed playsand from home depot works great as substrate.
And I don't live in Canada so I can't answer that one. Lots of luck, Eve
