question...

phiber_optikx Jun 21, 2005 09:45 PM

just curious, I will be getting 2 new additions to the family pretty soon.(two ratsnakes) and they are siblings, will they be fine together in the same cage for a month or so while I finish up some cages for them? I am going to build them both a custom cage. so aside from the whole disease and eating and everything will they be fine for about a month? are rats cannibalistic? thanks.

Some rats are cannibalistic. You'll be taking a chance. However, the most forms of cannibalism show up with one older and one younger snake, but it's not unheard of for a hatchling to eat another.

Although there's a lot of heated debate, VERY few instances of ratsnake predation on each other have been recorded. Keep them well fed, give them a few choices of places to hide, and everything will be just fine.
