Is any working with a creamsicle line that has the hypo gene it?

scvreptiles Jun 22, 2005 11:08 AM

Did anyone produce their own line of creamsicles and happen to use a albino corn carrying a hypo gene? I'm looking for a creamsicle corn carrying a hypomelanistic gene. I haven't seen any for sale and I dont see any on the big breeders sites so any help would be great. Thanks.

Good question, and I wish I had an answer for ya. I work with Creamsicles but the closest thing I can tell you is this. I bought a pair of het Creams like 6 years ago and have produced a ton of babies from them. They're also het Anery and produce Snows. This was a bonus in a way, but since my goal was to get numbers of Creams it was also a bit of a bummer. I produced a few Anerys that very well may have been Ghosts? It is hard to get to the bottom of that since the Emoryi influence makes it hard to be sure of what's what. Unfortunately I gave that pair of odd Anerys to a friend who let them die.....needless to say we don't talk much. If you'd like to see pics of any odd balls this season it would be helping me out, I would like to try n see if they're indeed het for more than Amel and Anery. This het pair of mine seem to have many things goin on. I see some Aztecs and Zig Zags, unusally colored Snows and what not. I scored those snakes for a whopping 30 bucks way back when and now that they're proven many times over I really scored a cool pair. My email is NokturnelEclipse@aol.com Tom Stevens

Now there's a coincedence. I too bought a pair over six years ago and sure enough I was surprised to see snows popping out of that first clutch! You didn't happen to get them at the San Diego IRBA show did you? I"ve since sold them to my friend who has produced quite a bit of creamsicles that he kept back and are now adults.

No, I am in TX and bought them at a local show in Austin. I just realized this year I will not be able to figure out anything as I used 2 males on her. However maybe next year I will use that magic male [and no others]on her again. I get a lot of possible hets when those two produce and I now have other snakes to use to get more morphs in the clutch. That is why I gave that 1.1 which were possibly Ghosts to a friend. So he could raise them up, see hwo they looked as adults and breed them together to see what happened. It's a bummer but that aint happening. Take it easy Tom Stevens

I am working with cinnamons. (hypo guttata/emoryi)
My breeding pair of cinnamons was possibly het amel (cream) but so far all the eggs that have hatched have been cinnamons. No sunglow creamsicles so it appears as if they are not het amel.
here are the parents and a shot of a baby.
the mom, Shana

the dad, Toast

the first hatchling of the season born the day before yesterday.

haven't you ever had cinnamon toast?
Mix a little powdered sugar and cinnamon together and lightly sprinkle this over a piece of buttered toast.
That is cinnamon toast. MMMMM GOOD!!!
So when I thought of cinnamon, I thought of toast. I just felt Toast was more appropriate for the male.

Here's one that I produced from breeding a creamsicle male to a het female. I had some even nicer ones, that I was calling "golden corns," but I sold them last year. I imagine that hypos will be eventually crossed with amels. One of the tricky things about "sunglows" or "hybinos" (hypo X amel) is that sometimes it's hard to tell this morph from an albino. This has been going on for a few years with Hondurans - you just can't tell. Like albino and hypo "pure" corns, there's a heck of a lot of variability in creamsicles - which makes them fun to work with.

P.S. Nice Toast, Jimmy!

Beautifull! They almost look like they've gone blue to me. I really like the one with the stripes! Good luck with them!
