jeph Jun 22, 2005 02:09 PM

Here is a pic of my male Applegate pyro. He has bred an Applegate female-(should lay any day now) and a het-apples female this year. He is one of my cleanest apples too. he has an all white ventral which is pretty neat looking.Enjoy the pic,

Here is my female Applegate # 1. She should lay any day now.I've had a pretty good year with my pyros-(so far only 1 bad clutch out of 7 females, and 3 of those that layed good egs are gravid again with 2nd clutches). This female is pretty clean too,

Here is my # 2 apples female. She should breed next year-(shes over 80 grams now),so hopefully she stays eating how she is now till the end of summer. This is my ugliest-(not sure if you can really call it ugly..lol,still nice to me) but most black out of all my applegates. She has alot of black on her ventral too. Enjoy the pic,
jeff

This is one I produced last year. She hatched on my birthday too,so she was a keeper. plus she is very clean, not much black at all,and I love the reduced head cap.Enjoy the pic,
Jeff

She is nice, but I am curious as to why you are waiting until next year if she is over 80 grams. That is more than large enough to breed. Did she just not cycle this year?

Hi Rick,
She is over 80 grams now-(weighed 2 days ago) she did brumate, but came out only around the mid-60 range. But she wasnt ovulating anyways. next year though,
Jeff

PS-the smallest female i bred this year-(out of pyros) was 113 grams comming out of brumation, and she was the only one to lay infertile eggs so far. The next smallest was the applegate female # 1,which was exactly 150 grams comming out of brumation.

You are right. The smallest female that laid for me this year was 103 grams before she laid. I was thinking of their post lay weights which were 68-100 g. I don't usually take post or pre-brumation weights so don't know where mine were.
