how big is too big?

chargo Jun 22, 2005 02:45 PM

I have a 4x3x3 foot tank and wanted to give my leo lots of space. Is this too big for him? Can you actually have a tank that is too big for one leo?

thanks in advance,
chargo

Actually,
You would think that the bigger the better right? For most reptiles yes it would be like that. But leos being so small and so voulnerable to predators (even though in captivity there are no potential predators) the leo might instinctivly get very worried about this, and CONSTANTLY be "on guard" and watching and may actually get stressed. I used to keep my leo in a 10 gal, then i got another leo after her and put him in a 15 gal, now instead, i got ANOTHER one. So i have 2 leos in a 29 gallon. You should keep one in a 15-20 id say. Many people say 10 but i like to give mine some room to run around.

So yeah to answer your question, 4x3x3 is too big, lol.
