Possible new Uromastyx

jimbo Jun 22, 2005 03:04 PM

As you all are probably aware, whenever you tell someone you have a reptile or lizard, they ask, "What kind?"

You say, "A uromastyx."

"A what? What is that?" They ask curiously.

Well, one of my step father's officer's mother has a lizard that she wants to get rid of (hopefully for free) and wouldn't you know it, it's a uromastyx. I'm going to call her to find out what species and whether or not it free and if accessories are included. I'm not allowed to take on anymore financial "situations" right now. You all know how that goes.

I'm really curious to see.

Ok let me get this straight, your stepfather's officer's mother, so is your stepfather a law enforcement officer? If so that's cool, I'm going into law enforcement myself, right now I'm interning at the PD in my town this month, then the PD in another town next month.

If not, then I won't even try to guess what this person does for a living.

At any rate that's pretty cool.

If you get him/her you should post a pic so everyone can see the little/big guy/gal.

Oh, yeah, anyone who knows me, knows that pics are sure to come.

And yes, my step dad is the most tenured (sp) police chief in California.

Really?

I'm thinking about doing a couple of years duty here, in my town since its small.

Then transferring to some place in California, NY(city) Chicago or Miami.

I've heard that if you go to cali they are most likely going to start you off in corrections.

If you could do me a favor, and ask him if someone transferred from one precinct to another, if they'd have to do corrections or if they get the same job they had.

Thanks

Oh and I totally agree, threads are worthless without pictures

I don't believe that's true but I'll ask. "Another precinct" does that mean any other? Others in California?

Another precinct would be a different station.

Example: Precinct 55 is a precinct that polices a certain district, like maybe from one town to another or even part of a big city such as New York, LA or Chicago. Precinct 32 is a totally different precinct that polices a different section of a city or town.

So being transferred from one precinct to another is basically like moving from your house to a house either further on down the road, or miles away from where you lived.

It can be complicated if you don't really understand law enforcement.

I was always told by instructors that if you go to California, you will be started off as corrections, unless they need patrol at that point in time. They do it because corrections can ease your transition from civi to po (civilian to police officer).
