candled my eggs, not sure...

astronut1885 Jun 22, 2005 09:59 PM

I candled my eggs that my female laid two weeks ago. This was her first clutch. The eggs have begun denting alot, so I figured I'd take a look. The inside looks pretty much all yellow, with a little pink dot on the top of the egg in both. I don't see the veins everyone says should be there. I put them back in the incubator just incase, but I'm thinking they're no good.

They are most likely bad eggs. From what you said, those are all the signs of bad ones.

Keep them a little longer anyway, never hurts. Most of the time, first timers will give bad eggs. Maby the next batch.

In my experience (which is limited) if the egg does not have the RED RING AND the DOT in the middle, it is bad. I have had ones that had part of the ring and they turned out bad. No dot in the middle = bad. I have succesfully hatched 10 so far (they are so cute and feisty!) and I have 34 eggs that are fertile in the inc. By the way after a couple of weeks the egg will glow pinkish red, by this I mean the whole egg. Basically the redring/dot turns into the whole egg glowing pink. Oh yeah the egg GROWS. If you look at my pics you will see the redring/dot in one and I also took pics of eggs that were about to hatch right next to a freshly laid egg showing how they grow. The eggs that are about to hatch get almost if not twice the size of the eggs about to hatch.......hope it helps! And sorry if yours are not fertile, don;t sweat it there will be more to come!

I took a look at the pics again that I reffered you to. Pic that ends in 0072 on the first page, shows how the egg grows........
