mchambers Jun 23, 2005 07:20 AM

some of the movies ( I can think of at least 7 ) shot on or around location of the Trans-Pecos area. At least 3 or 4 has been faily famous down through the years. Some of you young guys won't know some of the older movies shot there. Some of us old guys, well, might have even been there at times of location shootings. I was there with at least one or right after.

Let's see, no way I can get all of them, but

Dead Man's Walk
Streets of Laredo
Fandango
Contrabando

and Brooks and Dunn shot My Maria Music Video there....

There has bound to have been an Alamo Movie shot in Brackettville, that leaves at least three for the other folks

I think it's called "Three Burials" or something like that Joe. It's about the BP. Allot of it was filmed at Tommy Lee Jones's place just outside of Van Horn.

Barbarossa, a Willie Nelson classic, filmed outside of Lajitas

Well,
This is fun. I can think of a couple that had scenes filmed on location near Marfa that no one has mentioned.......SLYVESTER, the story of a grand pris jumping horse starring Melissa Gilbert and FLESH AND BONE starring Dennis Quaid. I remember Barbarosa with the non-indigenous(to the Big Bend) armadillos everywhere.

Surprised no-one has mentioned it; Lonesome Dove. Parts of it were filmed on the Prude Ranch in Ft. Davis. Last Man Standing (Bruce Willis) was filmed East of El Paso and some scenes from Culberson County. Lone Wolf McCuaid (sp) was filmed mostly in El Paso with a few scenes from South of Marfa. They shot a movie in Brackett a few years ago called Jerico (Western) which turned out horrible. Everyone else already named the others I was thinking. Fandango and Giant stand out the most.

Shafter was used to represent the fictional town of "Piedmont, NM" in the 1971 Robert Wise film version of Crichton's Andromeda Strain.
