New eggs . . . More questions

MajesticRose Jun 23, 2005 09:01 AM

So this is Storm's 5th clutch that she's laid this year I think . . . 4th or 5th . . .

I rearranged their cage and found her last night trying to bury this two . . . Stuck together (is that a problem?).

We candled them and they're kind of yellow but you can see some veining. I stuck them in damp vermiculite/perlite mixture . . .

How do I keep the humidty up? Every time I have eggs they're good for like 3 weeks and them I lose humidity and in my attempts to keep the substrate moist, I guess it hurts the eggs . . .

Also, is it problem that the eggs are stuck togetger?? Should I try to seperate them?

I have had success gently taking them apart paying very very careful attention to not rip them and I have had some that when I did this it seemed that it was not going to work and just put them in the incubator stuck together.....In your incubator are you using perlite?

If your eggs are stuck together it is probably best to leave as they are to save them and not rip them open. If your having probs with humidity try setting a few conatiners for your eggs. Have you put small holes into the containers??? The way i incubate is with a plastic sealed container with no holes in at all, i use vermiculite as an incubation medium. Some people put holes in there containers to allow air circulation but i find when doing this to much water vapour escapes and you lose humidity which is not something that we want is it? Always keep containers made up and ready at the correct humidity and temp inside your incubator just incase there is a need for them because you never know when your gonna need them. Hope this helps
