I am looking to get a monitor for a pet, but I wasn't sure which way to go. I was looking at the Timor Monitor, Yellow Ackie and Red Ackie. Any suggestions on which one makes the best pet temperament wise? I have done some reading, but I think I may be more confused now.

Thanks.

What do you want out of this pet lizard?
If you want someting you cab sit and watch run around the cage doing crazy things, then get an ackie. Color doesn't matter.
If you set them up right and feed them, they will keep you intertained.
If you want a pretty lizard that will most likely hide every time you get near it,and stress easily, get a timor.

I was leaning more towards the Ackie and I heard that they can be very tamable. Do they allow you to pick them up and hold them, or are they okay when you pick them up, but very squirmish?

Thanks.

Monitors can be conditioned to tolerate being handled, however they will still fear and stress from being held despite what you might wish to think or hope them to be. Ackies are jumpy and nervous however make great display animals. A better lizard to hold is a bearded dragon.
