Growth Rate for a female burm

MyBurmese8Me Jun 23, 2005 04:27 PM

Hi, my name is brenden and i just got a 2 month old normal Burmese Python, named Kitty. She is currently 25 inches and was wondering how many inches, approx., she will grow every month. i am guessing around 8? Well, i got it from LLLReptile and supply company for 49.99 and was in great condition except for a slight resperatory problem. I was also wondering if she will keep the same color through her entire life, and hat to do about the respertory problem. I also have aa 5 ft jungle carpet python with the same problem as the snake i had last, a ball python named king, who was killed by mites, or something else, where he was loosing scales. so i would also like to know how to kep this one alive, he hasent eaten for about 7 months now, and i have tried everything. Please help me! i would b so sad if he died
Peace Out,
Brenden

dont mean to judge but have you ever taken your snakes to a vet. Propper cleaning and coditions for the snakes are essential and I know a lot of people dont do general vet checks but for the safety of the animals I think its important (JMO). And by no means am I saying that people are'nt being responsible herpers because we all have different views

I did take them to a vet about 3 times for resperatory disease, and this problem just came about recently. I am going to take them to a vet within the next week.

If you have 5FT JCP, with the same problem as a BP that had died perhaps it is time to re-asess your husbandry practices.
Right off...did you quarantine your new burm?
A must, especially if you suspect mites. Look at VPI, or Pro Exotics websites. They go into great detail on how to erradicate mites.
Get a book. Learn about what you are doing. Learn abot different diseases.
Scales falling off? Seems to me we're a little beyond the stage of mites.
It is time to see a vet. And I'd notify the seller of your burm that it arrived with a URI.
Good Luck

Might I suggest that one should never purchase a new animal of ANY sort until their current collection is in absolute health!

All you are doing is putting new animals in high risks of disease, infection, infestation, etc.

Also, if your current vet can't fix the problem, don't think twice about finding another vet. A second opinion is well worth an extra hour of your time.

Good luck with all your problems.

i agree with "AustHerps" stop buying snakes, your adding more problem to your list and also waht are you doing buying a female burmese, if you didtn't know they require alot of space, food, and time. maybe instead of a new snake concentrate on your sick ones first then read alot about burmese before you buy one
