Why get two of the same morph? Get one of each.

You actually have to spend $$ on the nice ones, or at least let them play with you snake first.

At least the VPI line does (nicest line of hypos I have ever seen). I have a male Butterscotch hypo from VPI lineage & it blows away 98% of the hypos I see posted on this forum, and his sibling blows him away...They are sweet!!

I realize hypos are hard to take accurate color photos of, and maybe that is why most here seem blah to me, but I have also seen various line in person & none come close to the VPI Butterscotch line.

I'm a big fan of the ghost/hypo balls, I'd love to see a pic of yours.

You gave it a big build up so don't hold out now LOL

I will take some photos soon (he just shed out today). This particular line stays sweet even as adults. The animal I have was produced by Jeff Yohe in "04" & even grnd dad still looks sweet. This line actually looks hypo instead od just having a clear shed. Be patient, I hate taking photos & figuring out how to post them...LOL

Nice one! I like how the Butterscotch hypos almost always look better as adults than the other ones (I know there are exceptions). How big is thst one?

I had the first Butterscotch Ghost back in '93 that I purchased from an importer. He said the animal was faded. I purchased her and raised her up and I bred her to my Yellow line of Ghost. I named them Butterscotch and the name stuck. To me that is the color that best described her appearance. I am glad that people like the name and especially that they like the Butterscotch Ghost. They are awesome.

hate the name Butterscotch, but I love it. It does descibe their coloration almost to a T. Now Green & Orange hypos are a different story (the name "almost" never fits their coloration).

Thanks for the info.

Hi Chad,
Butterscotch is not the most impressive name but I was thinking of the actual color of the animal when I named them and I am glad some people like the name. Thanks for the comments.

some orange ghosts look like just the over (top ) colors are faded.........and some butterscotches look like they ahve 2 layers faded....an underlying hypo look to them......( didn't Barker say they have 3 layers of pigments).....

hard to describe........

.......they may be compatible to breed together.......but I think some are different.....
not all

.............alot of oranges look like butterscotch or yellow.......

look at like Morton's...they are really orange........yet not as overly faded..they stay bright in the background yet the black (dark brown) is still actually fairly dark....

like I said.hard to describe......

bottom line...to the origional poster.....get one of each if you are getting any........

when a person imports a sweet looking hypo & keeps his line from being crossed into other peoples line it tends to stay sweet looking. Out of most Butterscotch lines & Orange lines I see, the Butterscotch is almost always more hypoish looking (more washed out looking). Green hypos are the same also, so why did Kevin give them the name green? I call them what they look like & happen to like the Butterscotch line the best.

I really don't mean to discourage you, but I believe you have much more to learn before you can make an informed decision.

Trust me... you'll be happy you did.

which homework would u be refering to,i am trading a sub adult female for 2 100% hets but i had a choice between 2 of the same or 2 different so i asked for some opinions and i wasnt 100% sure how the compatibility was with 2 different ghosts

FerrisBueler Jun 23, 2005 09:08 PM

Trust who you're buying from.

For all you know they could all be normals.

Do your homework and make sure the person you are trading with it reputable.

Ryan.

That het ghost males are a dime a dozen and if your goal is to produce animals NEVER EVER EVER sell good females!!! So you get a few het males, what are you going to do with them? Breed them to a different normal...make possible hets? Save your female and your money and buy a pastel male and do it up!
