Need Garter ID

wildthing642 Jun 23, 2005 07:48 PM

Not sure if this is a Norther Ribbon Snake, or a Mountain Garter Snake, or other. Am pretty sure it's a Mountain garter. A friend caught them near Sacremnto at Calaver's Big Trees or something like that. They look more liek Garters but I'd liek a for sure ID. Thanks!

I'll load some more pics on another post,m it wont let me do more than one

If by "Sacremnto" you mean Sacramento, CA, then those are defintely Garter Snakes; Northern Ribbon Snakes don't venture that far west.

That's what I meant I apologize for my spelling. So would you suggest them be Mountain Garter Sankes (Thamnophis Elegans Elegans)?
