Monitor cage... flooring?

striderjg Jun 23, 2005 10:26 PM

Hello all,
I just started screwing together the framing for a 8'x4'x4' cage for my black rough neck monitors. I'm now trying to decide what to use for the flooring that won't be obliterated by there nails. I was thinking maybe the lynoliam(sp) shower wall stuff. Is that stuff durable enough to withstand big semi-aboreal lizard claws?
Thanks
_john

Some linoleum is quite soft, I would avoid it.

Safe choice if fiberglass reinforced panel, aka FRP board.

Thanks to both of you. I was at home depot again today gettin more 2x4's for the other half of the framing (doing 2 parts so I can get through doors). I took a closer look. The shower stuff isn't linoliam(sp). took a look at it too, and ya, did feel pretty soft, and one of te samples was actually ripped.... no good. But the shower paneling looked pretty good, so I'll probably go that way. Bloody expensive though.
Thanks all

I am in the end stages of building a cage for a sav. I used the FRP for the flooring as well for the back(against a wall). It is really strong and durable.. pain to cut. I used some nice tin snips too, still was awkward. It is expensive($30 per 4x8 sheet), but well worth it I think. I will be using it on future cages.
