Accident with a Fish! dangerous?

clarinet45 Jun 24, 2005 06:40 AM

Hey, i'm traveling with my beardie and we were basking in the sun, in my friend's yard, all was well. But of course my friend has a little home-made pond with small fish and Feng sees them moving and makes a break for the water. It's kinda deep, but i let her go in of her own free will, thinking she's just wants to swim. (Keeping VERY good eye on her). But she takes a chomp at the fish, and before i can stop her, she eats a baby coi(SP?) fish and i take her out. She seems fine and has been eating and pooping as normal. (wasnt a big fish) Anyone know if they eat fish in the wild? Or if they are (un)healthy for her?
Thanks in advance!
-Sara

Aquatic animals are a favorite food for them in the wild, fish, water snakes, turtles and soft tubers/plants around the shorelines (bearded dragons are not just desert animals)many species are in the lake districts and rain corridors.

BUT.... before you start adding those to their diets in the US, this is not recommended feeding here as most tropical fish carry a bactreia that could cause them a problem. Sorry I can not remember what it is called, but just keep an eye on dragon, with only eating one its system should be able to handle it. If you see a problem, like runny poo etc, you would want to have the vet check it.
