Actually, I've read that chams do not have a good sense of smell. They are sight predators and gave up a lot of sensory organ brain space to favor support of their complex eyes. I consider them very similar to birds in a lot of ways. They have complex lung structure so may be very sensitive to chemicals in the air. Air quality is important for them, so I suspect aromatherapy might not be a great idea. They tend to rely so much on visuals that a place that offers good security and seclusion (they can watch everything without being seen) may be more relaxing than odors in the air.
I have to agree. Essentail oils (those used in aromatherapy) are a very concentrated form and highly volatile and can be an irritant to mucus mebrane, skin, eyes and respriratolry systems in humans if not used properly - so imagine the potential irritation and damage to a cham. I would steer clear of using anything that they would not find/be exposed to in nature - especially where chemicals are concerned.
Just give them lots of cover, water and a healthy diet with minimal handling and environmaental activity and you should have a happy cham
