Is this taken with you D70? Kit lens? I should have my D50 with kit lens next week (lower end lens versus the kit lens in the D70, arg .. gotta save up for a 60mm 2.8).

She is looking absolutely amazing! I am stunned ... !

a longer lens then the 60mm (working distance is way to short). I also have the Sigma 150 Macro , and it does a great job but not quite as sharp as the 60mm. The perfect lens for snake photos is probably the 105 micro , but I don't need 3 macro lenses so it had to go.

and got opinions on which macro lens I should be getting and the 60mm stood out. But they dont have any experience actually shooting boas.

I'll defenitly research a longer lens.

Did you get the kit lens with the D70? Everyone ive talked to raves about how great it is. I considered purchasing it for my D50 but, Im out of money... lol.

definately a great lens for the price. Hard to beat for a standard walk around lens. I played with a D50 the other day in Ohio , personally I think you're better off picking up a D70, you can get one at Ritz Camera for around 750... not to much of a price difference from the D50.

Ive been going back and forth on that.

One of the main things that is swaying me towards the d50 is the improved white balance and new sensor. The D50 also does uncompressed RAW's and is said to put out a better jpg straight from the camera (less post processing required). From what ive read the D70(s) is a more powerful overall camera but can require more post processing. The D50 being more DSLR newbie oriented (thats me ). I also like the smaller size of the D50.

Im still trying to decide for sure though ... cant make up my mind. I may end up with the D70s w/lens kit.

difference between the D70 and D70s , making the D70 the older bargain model. For 200 bucks cheaper I can live with the cheaper model...

As for the D50, it is quite a bit smaller and although that sounds great, when you attach a big lens you'll wish it was a little bigger. .jpg out of the camera may be a little smoother but you do loose a few features , one thing you loose that is 0 needed for macro shots is the depth of field preview. Go for the D70 ... best bang for the buck now that the D70s has been released.

There are actually a few other differences from what ive read regarding the d70 vs d70s, basicly a total firmware upgrade that will not be available for the D70. Many are reporting the d70s requires less post processing as well.

I talked to a few about the lack of DOF preview and many claim its useless because the frame darkens and for other reasons.

Ive been frequenting too many slr forums, lol.

Im still going back and forth between them all though. Going to make my decesion by next week. I could very well end up with the D70 and lens kit to save a few bucks.

don't believe everything you read... try it for yourself. I personally love the depth of field preview, it makes a world of difference if you bother to use it.

Anyway.. 6 of 1 .. half a dozen of the other , pick the one you like most, it really won't make much of a difference. What I do think you should definately do is go to the store and hold it , pick the one that fits your hands the best. I like the feel of the D70, the D50 is a little to small for my hands. Actually the D70 is a little small for me too, but lord knows I don't need to spend 5K for a D2x

Here's the differences between the 70 and 70s

Cable release (this I would like to have but I can use the remote for now)
Wider Flash ( almost impossible to notice)
Bigger LCD (another non issue)
New battery (non issue, I only charge my battery once a week)
Firmware (same as D70 20)
