Easterns protected now?

In Florida they are not protected, but you do have to have a permit to sell. I believe they are protected in Canada (but do not quote me on that). It really varies from state to state. Sometimes even region to region within a state. For example; the Florida Brown Snake is protected in the lower Keys region of Florida, but nowhere else in the state. It will just take a little research. You should be able to find information on your state web page. Florida not only tells you which animals are protected, but also what cage sizes you should have for each! I was a little surprised at the detail...hope that helps some.

This link list the species protected and of special concern in NC. The Eastern Hog is not listed, but the Southern is listed as special concern. Hope that helps.
