my patternless just layed some eggs, but I think there's a problem

astronut1885 Jun 24, 2005 11:55 PM

Well, I just got home from work, and I saw my patternless female acting funny. I moved her aside, and there was an egg laying there. It was already all dented in, and felt very VERY dry. I pulled it out, and then found another under the sand where she was, in similar condition. I put them straight into the incubator in moist vermiculite, but I can't tell if they are screwed. I can't believe she dumped them in the sand and not in the humid hide area. Will the eggs regain moisture, or will they simply die now? Please help, I don't want to loose my second clutch of the season!

Well, I checked this morning, and one of the eggs seems to have puffed back up a bit, and both have gotten softer again. Last night, they were pretty stiff. I'm hoping over the next few days that they will perk back up, because I don't want to loose another clutch.

Well, at this point, the eggs have returned to normal shape for the most part, with a slight indent on one of them. I'm hoping I got them out in time. We'll see...

If you hold it up to a candle do you see veins in it? It sounds like its ok to me though.

I tried candleing them a few days ago, and didn't see much, but already they are increasing in size, and they look good. They filled out completely and are swelling, so I think I might have some fertile ones on my hands.
