NEED HELP FROM THE PROS RIGHT AWAY!!!!

iceyesnteeth Jun 25, 2005 12:33 AM

i am attenpting to build a vivarium from scratch.i came across a bunch of old windows being given away so i took a few.they are good size so if i use them as is to make it,it should be around 3.5 ft tall and around 2.75 feet wide.=(about how many gallons do you think that would be?)anyway, they are old wooden frames and i am attempting to remove the glass and im having a really hard time.the first frame i was able to remove the trim but the glass wouldnt budge,im assuming thats because of the putty huldding it in from the other side but there is no trim on the other side, therefore noway to access the putty.i already broke one sheet of glass trying.there was about 50 old windows in the pile,so i can goback and get more, but id first like to know iif it is possible first.all i can find online is how to replace windows after they are broken.anyway,i already know this isnot going to be easy so if you think it may be too much work, how much do you think i would pay for new cut glass in the measurements i described, for all 4 walls and a bottom?again the tank will be around 3.5 x 2.75..

We also need to know the length of the cage. You have only provided the width and height.

I have no idea about removing the glass or about how much it will cost to buy the equivalent glass for your cage. I have not purchased glass in a very long time.

I would be inclined to just purchase new glass.

I think the general way of getting glass out of the old style windows that are held in with putty is to break them out. It might be more trouble than its worth

oh im sorry,i assumed you knew how wide it would be based on the fact i was using window glass, anyway, the length is the same as the width 2.75...got any idea how many gallons it would be?
