Thanks for all the awesome work you do on the Alterna page! Just wondering, why haven't you posted Dan Johnson's Huecos yet? Those things are incredible!

Hope to run into you out west this year...I'll be out in August if everything goes as planned.

a couple things....

Firstly I can't just go to someone's Web site and take the photos and post them on the alterna page. That just wouldn't be right to post them without permission. I can post the WC snake that is already WC of the month way back when, but other than that my hands are tied until he either sends them to me or gives me permission.

Secondly, the response has been tremendous for submissions, and I'm getting behind now. So even if I did have the permission I'd be a little while in getting them posted.

I want to thank everyone for what they've sent in so far, I've got a lot of work to do now!

PS PLEASE DON'T SEND ME CAPTIVE BORN SNAKES TO POST IN THE GALLERIES! THANKS!

I know there are some CB's in the galleries, but I'm going to try and weed them out so the galleries reflect WC snakes only!

Did Dan Johnson Post any of these Hueco WC snakes on this forum way back when he went public with them? There are only 4 WC snakes, if someone can point to me to that post then I can add those other three snakes too....

I check the forums often even in the off season at least once a week, Since 1998/99. I don't recall seeing a post from Dan but I could be mistaken. I think he went public to a small group of his friends and then the word spread. Again I don't remember a post from Dan himself.

Can anyone verify this?

Thanks Joe for all your work on the Alterna Page. I will try to send some more habitat pics soon. I just need to "dig" them up.

You could email Carl Lieb and ask if he will let you use his pic of the Indio Mtn alterna he has posted at the IMRS site.

Hey, I think that is an excellent idea (re: wild caughts only). I always wondered why there were obvious captive born stuff on there. In some situations, it might be alright, but I like the idea of only having wild caughts to compare a locality with is a good one.

I just think Dan's Huecos fall into the "too good to be alive" category, to steal a phrase from Boyden. I'd be surprised if Dan wouldn't let you post the pics given the number of photos he's already contributed to the Alterna page. I'd ask him myself but he doesn't respond to my emails now that he's no longer selling critters....

What's up with that? I mean the not answering e-mails?
Is he totally out of herps? Wonder what happened....

Anyway, I don't get out to herp much, right now I'm living vicariously through you guys A few guys have been e-mailing me for tips and I've tried to put them on some alterna. It's worked out well at least twice and I'm waiting to hear back from some some other guys to see how they did.

I'll spend an hour or two everyday doing a little bit on the page. Like I said previously it might take a year or two in total to get the alterna page where I think it should be.

We'll get ahold of Dan eventually and get those snakes up, if not why don't you head over there and catch some yourself Not to take anything away from Dan, because if anything he was persistant, but if he can do it over there so can anyone else. You just have to put in the time. He didn't get all his in one night, he worked it pretty hard for several years and his persistance paid off.
