Yellow Striped Borneo

5rings Jun 25, 2005 09:30 AM

It's gotten so bad since Jody began his onslaught I cant even post the whole picture of my run of the mill Borneos anymore. I'm ashamed of them.

Anyway, to the point. You've all seen this girl before but as she is getting older and larger the color of her stripe is getting more intense yellow. I just can't seem to catch it on a camera. Her stripe is actually the color of a ripe banana and the ground has darkened to almost completely black. Of course is fades about 1/2 way up her body but it is pretty interesting up to that point.

Do you have or have you seen Borneos with a stripe that is this yellow? Wouldnt it be cool to selectively breed for a black ground and a yellow dorsal stripe? If the future of snake collecting is indeed blood pythons, then we are in the drivers seat. Where are we going?

Run of the mill? Yeah right, I'll that that one Just for the record, my favorite borneo in my house, is a big old brown female named BabyJane. When this girl dies her hide will be on my wall forever. Looks are great, but the best snake, is a snake that makes you feel good. I think we all have a snake like BabyJane in our collection, or should...

Yup, you are 100% correct. Pretty snakes are one thing, favorites are another story. My favorite is my fat yellow female Buttercup. I also have a melanistic IJ carpet that I love as well, ssshhh thats blasphemy I know. Buttercups color is a little unusual but she isnt anything special. She just seems to like being around me and interacting with me. My heart rate and blood presssure instantly drop when I am around her.

Dont tell my dog Brodie any of this!

Sorry for the awful spelling, I meant to say, I'll take that one. Maybe I should get some sleep, lol... Buttercup? The name alone makes me want one. Sounds like a sweet pet I would enjoy too. I love your snakes, and guess that is what I was trying to say. I really love the names people come up with for big bloods/borneos. I would think people are caught off guard when you say "let me show you Buttercup", and walk out with a nice big borneo Enjoy Buttercup, and I will go tuck in my BabyJane... jody

Actually mine has a peach-colored head, but the same yellow stripe!

Off to take some pics!!!!

That is a gorgeous snake - can't wait to see some of her kids, BTW.

I too have a yellow striper, I guess we all have good taste! And I know what you were saying about Jody shunning all other animals with his pics... I wont be able to post any til I get some from him And I like what you all are saying about snakes that you just love. My first Borneo is butt ugly but hes such a cuddler and has such a great personality he's a ton of fun to have around. He even does party tricks (he poops on people he doesn't like.. I'm serious...) Glad there are other people out there who enjoy their snakes as much as I do!

Here is a pic of my female. Her yellow IS really nice and bright. Babies last season were a perfect reflection of the parents.
