Was your JCP eating before and how large is it? Also, what are the cage dimensions and what is the heat and humidity like? Are you feeding in it's cage or in a seperate container? I've, personally, only known gravid females to go off feed like that but knowing a little more info might help pinpoint the problem. Also, I've never fed birds to them but I've heard that some will take chicks and possibly other fowl as well.

i keep it in a 3x2x2 glass aquarium and it was eating before. it was eating live mice. it is a male and 5ft. the humidity is around 75% and i am using repti-bark for the substrate.

well, i have a male JCP and when he got to 5 foot (he is close to 6 1/2-7 now) he wouldn't eat for a few weeks. i was told he was at breeding size and was looking for a mate. now i don't know about yours not eating for 5 months. you could try small rats but its hard to get them to switch to rats sometimes from what i've read.
mine also got very restless in the tank i housed him in and moved him to a bigger tank...from a 40 gallon breeder to an 80 gallon tank.
i have half reptile bark, half newspaper in his tank now. plus two big climbing branches. i also don't have that much humidity in there. i don't worry about humidity unless he is going to shed. i just have a big water bowl in with him.
i'm no expert..this is just my snake i'm talking about. i wonder if yours could have mites? if all else fails i would take him to a vet to make sure he is in good health. perhaps he has a parasite. feeding live rodents can introduce parasites. it the live mouse had some then the snake eats it...frozen/thawed is much better to feed. well, i would try a vet if its been that long without eating.

What's the temp of the cage? And stick with rats. This is the time of the year that most male carpets go off food, but not for 5 mos previously.
