My lizard laid eggs!

Lightning_Hunter Jun 25, 2005 01:18 PM

Ok, My lizard just laid eggs inside the container of soft moist dirt I made for her! I have a quick question. Do I really have to steal the eggs from her and put them in an incubator? She has blocked herself in the container (pushed the dirt to block the entrance) and is sitting on the eggs guarding them. I feel bad just stealing the eggs, but would they hatch if I left them there?

Never mind, I moved them to a container with vermiculite. See my other thread.

I've had alligator lizards eat eggs. The eggs were infertile and laid by an unmated female and were consumed by her female cagemate. Since seeing this behavior, I don't trust them not to turn on their own eggs. I've had geckos do this in the past so I don't feel it's worth the risk.

I know that you already removed them, but I wanted to share the above information.
