Blondes or red heads? 2 much loved family memebers - many pics

LauraV Jun 25, 2005 04:10 PM

I know they are a bit off topic...but, I haven't taken posted pics of my them since they were little.

Beau through a window

Lots of slime...

Come here...

Happy boy - all of his full body pics showed the same "happy" looks, so I stuck to mostly face shots.

Brandy

Brandy - Through the window

Loving couple (well, he's loving, she's frightened - after all, he is a whole lot of boy)

Don't know who is more scared here...Beau by the ears or Brandy by Beau..

How would you like this coming at you? He's just a puppy...110 pound puppy, but puppy nonetheless.

The neighbors are terrified and refuse to touch the male. They knew the female as a tiny baby and are more inclined to touch her. It sure is hard to socialize them when people are afraid to touch them...sigh...
The neighbors behind us will occationally jump up on the fencing to look over the top and see how big they are. The Bordeaux are not good jumpers, but still I don't like them doing it...It's akin to teasing the dogs, at least I'm afraid that is what the dogs will think. But, my Boxer is a good jumper, however, and she thinks she is quite tough - from a distance.
For those that haven't heard a Bordeaux bark or growl, you are missing something. I can't begin to describe it, but I've never heard anything like it. By the sound of it, they really could be a Hell Hound.

Love your douge de bordeaux i used to have a male and female but they have passed on. Who was the breeder of your pair. And do you breed yourself. Thanks mike.

LauraV Jun 26, 2005 09:42 AM

The female came from Puppy Creek, the male from Ocean State. But they do have Ch. bloodlines and some decent names behind them, such as:Park Ave, Hilltop, Riverbend, & Big House. Of course, these are only the breeders names that I could understand, as there are several European names on their pedigrees I can't make heads or tails of.

I had hoped to show them, but, despite how physically nice the male is, his color would make it difficult in the ring. We chose him for his color. Most all Bordeaux we've seen are red to brown...He even came from two red parents. So, I am wondering if he is a dilute red...I was intrigued by his blonde color. I can't wait to breed him to see what he throws - to see if his coloration is co-dom, recessive, or what. The female's nose has grown a bit long to show right now, but as she is still young, I am hoping she will grow into it. If not, the male's real short nose should compensate in their puppies.

I love these guys. They are so mellow - they don't bounce off walls like our Boxers.

Currently we breed Boxers, but the Bordeaux fit our lifestyle much better (glad we discovered them), and when the female is large enough (next year), we will breed them. We are really excited about that.
