Anyone else have any "piggies" in their collection?

kingofspades Jun 25, 2005 05:11 PM

Today was feeding day.
I put a small rat in Damien's cage,
a small mouse in with my new male,
and a small mouse in with Eve.

I turn around not even 10 minutes later and Damien's got a tail hanging out of his mouth and the new male is DONE with his.

They eat so fast. Haha.

Anyone else have a snake that HOOVERS it's food like it's the last meal it's going to eat?

our big one Ace ate thursday night. feed him a f/t and got it in about a minute or so. The funny thing was I went to feed my baby, also named damien, last night and refused to so we gave it small mouse to Ace and he tore after it with in 5 seconds of seeing it. preety cool to see. That was the 1st time Ace has eatin since we bought him...looks like he's gonna be a "piggie".

I dont know if any one else has heard of Ian G.'s "giant" females from a specific origion in Africa ... He is the only person that imports these huge females ... I have one that weighed 2300 grams after laying 17 eggs ... She is now 4300 grams and pounding jumbo rats weekly ... I do have a couple of the normal female babies from her ... I was told that the "giant" is passed along to the babies ... I wasnt a beliver but now I am ... One of the females inpaticular eats like there is no tomorrow ... She was born 5/15/05 ... As of today 06/25/05 she weights 300 grams ... She is an OUTSTANDING FEEDER ... There are 3 other females that I have from the same clutch that are all 200 ... Talk about some "piggies" !!!

just a side question

were the babies from the "giant" female born bigger than normal, or is there just a huge clutch size with these monsters.

thanks

They werent really born bigger than a regular baby ... They just have an extremely quick growth rate ... The mother I stated before was 2200 grams after laying ... It only took about 2.5 months to get her up to 4200 grams ... She is pounding jumbo rats weekly ... I have no doubt in my mind that she will be atleast 5000 - 5500 grams by breeding season ... And the babies ... Wow ... I dont know what to say about them ... They are just astounding feeders ... They eat better than any other snake I own ... I can wait to watch these girl grow so I can breed them NEXT YEAR !!! Dont know if I answered you question good or not but there you go ...

Thanks

Yes, this guy is a pig! He is a late '04 Ghost who will eat small rats daily if I would offer. He weighed 318g on May 29th and weighs 477g today! He will be breeding this winter I think! He is really a beauty too, produced by Mark Bell.

i got 2 "piggies" one of them grabbed the hopper about 3 seconds after dropping it in...then i dropped in a second right after and he grabbed that in about 15 seconds. it waqs about a 10 minute 2 mouse meal. the other one will take one moyse quickly in like 30 seconds or less but if i try to feed him a second he usually takes a couple of minutes but still very quick. and that thing pounds down the mice quick. he has them swallowed in about 5 minutes. im just ghlad i have 2 good eaters and not 2 picky ones

All but two of my BPs are piggies.
The two huge females eat at least 4 rat pups a week!
And the big males get three a week.
I have one melastic female that is maybe three feet and she will eat four if you let her.
