Zero....

sojourner Jun 25, 2005 06:30 PM

This is another wicked looking normal female. She was the runt of the bunch, but is catching up quite nicely now. She has more of mom's looks and colors than any of the others, and there was nothing else like her in the litter. I can almost count the red colored scales that are on her on my fingers. So much like her mom.....

Here is a pic of mom....

Thanks for looking! What do you think?

I think she's cool. Reminds me of some of my longicauda, like this speckled youngster. I like the mother of your boa, too.

I have been wondering if there may be some Bcl in their mother's history. Ultimately I will never know. She was our first boa, bought from a local pet store as a "red tail boa" with no additional info attainable, but it would help to explain the unusual color that is evident throughout the litter we had.

Of all locality specific boas Longicaudas are without a doubt my favorite. I sit here and drool over all the amazing ones I see on this forum, and hope to pick up my first female this year. And the sickness, weakness, passion continues....

Thanks again for your thoughts. They do look very similar in many ways.

I LOVE the look of her! So much contrast... keeper for sure! I know it'll be a while before she breeds, but promise me you won't forget to post pictures of her babies.

All the animals look great... I really like the twins. You've got a great collection going there Jesse!

Funny thing, Her name is Zero, because I thought I had 24 babies and one slug. It was my first litter and I was not really sure what a slug was all about. Upon inspecting it, It popped open to reveal that it was actually an opaque egg sac with her inside. At first she was completely lifeless, which was heartbreaking, but just at the point I was sure she was stillborn, she started to move just a little. After a lot of tlc, she is finally up to speed with the rest of her siblings, and just as hardy as any of them.

It will still be a few years before she will ever be bred, but I have no doubt that I will still be around to post some pics of whatever may come.

Thanks again!
