My ornate eating garden snails today

NessiesMom Jun 25, 2005 10:16 PM

Hi all, today I treated Four Dots, my female ornate, to a meal of escargot (snails) and she ate every last one! Here's a pic of a snail "in flight" - it just flew out of her mouth as she was crushing its shell.

And yes, she is on a leash because we have neighbor kids who still think these lizards can eat them.

Here you see her tongue licking up a snail trying to escape out of her mouth. There's just no way she was going to let that happen!

My girl *loves* to eat snails and slugs. The first time I put a slug in her cage when she was small, her tongue started flickering wildly while she search for it with more much urgency than with rodents. They really seem to key in to that smell, which is funny, cause I can't smell em at all, while the rats stink to high heaven.
