What kind of lizard do i have?

shayneedsinfo Jul 14, 2003 05:11 PM

Okay, today i walked out to the pool and found a cute lizard swimming. So i kept it. but i cant figure out what kind it is. okay i live in south eastern america, i looks like a gecko, im not sure though. top part looks like: dark brown/black w/ yellow stripes stretching the length of his body, with a blue tail. Also what does it eat, and how often do i need to feed it? if you have any info for me please email me at shay24747@cs.com
thank you, Shay

Sounds like either a skink or a whiptail. You need to say how the lines run on it how many, what size the lizards is, shades of colors it is.

well it has five lines, the base color is a dark brown almost black color. it has a blue tail, it is about 3-3 1/2 inches long right now, i found out that it is a 5 lined skink but it wont eat. i put beetles in its cage, ut it wont eat them, what should i do?

Try crickets or mealworms.

Skinks do not always do well in captivity, I suggest you let it go because the stress of capture and captivity may overwhelm the animal without the necessary medical precautions. If you are interested in lizards, consider doing research and purchasing a captive bred leopard gecko.
