Western Coachwhip from recent outing..

Nathan Wells Jun 26, 2005 01:22 AM

I just thought I would share this picture of a coachwhip I recently encountered while out in West Texas in search of L. alterna. He was found midday cruising across the road near the town of Langtry, TX. He didn't like me chasing him down but once in hand he became very submissive, almost like he was playing dead. He then allowed a minute or so for pics before darting off again into the underbrush.

Hey, Nathan! Was that one a redhead or normal? Kinda looks a little red. I just got back from getting skunked in alternaland, although I did get a taeniatus and a whopper of a suboc. Saw one Dor W. coachwhip on my way out. Bummer.
